Community Plots

Thanks for your interest in community plots! Our plots are full for the 2009 growing season, get on the list for next year quick!

Do you live in an apartment or a house where you do not have the space or light you need to garden successfully?  The ISU Student Organic Farm is the place for you!  We have ~20 community garden plots at SOF that allow you the space and tools to strengthen your green thumb and nourish the rest of your body.
To get one, contact Theo  and fill out the form.

You'll find that being a community plot gardener will give you great opportunities to learn through your own experience, interactions with neighboring plotters and the fulfillment of working outdoors.

When you sign up for a community plot, you agree to volunteer at the farm for 10 hrs over the course of the spring and summer and, in return, you get a 20'x25' plot.  Dues are $25 to help pay for a fence and/or tilling of community plots.

Work days

We hold work days on Tuesday evenings and Saturdays.  On Tuesday nights we typically meet at 5PM and work for a while before enjoying a potluck together.  On Saturdays some people like to work in the morning, while others prefer the afternoon.  We need your help weeding, and encourage you to take home some harvested goods.

To join us, contact Andy, andyh@iastate.edu to get directions to the farm and possibly to carpool.  Also, tell Andy if you are interested in being placed on our listserv so that you can receive e-mails about workdays in the future.

Anyone can come out for a workday, no membership required!
